helping managers be better leaders

I help managers in Engineering, Trades and Technology be better leaders – by shifting how they communicate and work through conflict on the job – so they can have a life outside of work.

I work alongside clients who are tired of being distracted by circumstances and/or people that are draining their energy and shifting their focus away from more important goals. There are a finite number of hours in the day – I help my clients spend their awake hours feeling energized and present rather than exhausted and disconnected.

I work with leaders to acknowledge their presence and the impact they have on those they lead and work with, AND to create a life that is meaningful and satisfying to them.

I provide a time and space for you to evolve and expand as a leader in an environment light enough to make some serious change.

My clients:

  • Enjoy the ride;
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence;
  • Have incredible impact;
  • Work through conflict with ease, even with “that guy”;
  • Get promoted;
  • Make time for what they want to make time for (aka, they stop hating on people who make time for things and people they love, and stop saying things like “must be nice to have time for___”);
  • Are not waiting for a vacation or retirement to breathe; and,
  • Are experienced as amazing leaders.

life is more than a “to do” list

My clients are intentional and “on purpose” leaders. They are respected leaders because of the person they are being as leader - not because of the title they possess.

What helps them be surrounded by people who want to follow and engage with them? They know how to be. They have a “to be” list, in addition to their “to do” list.

what do you do for fun?

My clients discover how to “be” at work so they can finally “be” who they want to be outside of work.

What do you do for fun? Do you let yourself be present while doing them?

Maybe you’re a hockey coach for your kid’s teams, and you’re always running late/just making it on the ice and are frustrated with the kids and other coaches because work is still on your mind. Or maybe you’re one of the parents on the bleachers under the heater stewing or talking with another parent about a “Stuart” from work who you cannot stand, and you just missed your kid scoring a super awesome goal. Either way, stop missing out on amazing moments.

Maybe you love playing soccer, and you have missed your team’s last few games because you had work that just had to take priority. Or maybe it’s because you flipped out on a teammate a few games ago because you had work on your mind and instead of dealing with what was really going on, you decided to be a jerk to your friend. Either way, start having more fun!

So, what if you had more fun in your life? What if you were more present? What if you were experienced as the person you want to be known for?

are you ready for a coaching relationship?

Coaching requires commitment and perseverance. Only you can know if you are up for this challenge in this moment.

I love working with leaders who are/have:

  • Humour: Have a sense of humour. You can laugh at yourself – if you can’t, no need to worry, I’ll laugh at and with you as required.
  • Humility: You don’t know it all (probably why you’re reading this), and open to learning something new.
  • Hunger: You have to want it more than I do – and this is where you get to flex your like of being in control.
  • Commitment: You need to show up and do the work.
  • Risk Taker: This is not going to be comfortable – in order to achieve change, you have to try doing things in a different way.
  • Strategic: You are aware/acknowledge that you have impact and influence, and hold your self accountable (or open to start holding yourself accountable) for that impact.
  • Raw/Messy: Even if not the norm for you, when you commit to something, you will show up fully and honestly. You are up for the challenge of, even if nowhere else in your life, to be okay that might not be all put together at all times.
  • Curious: There is no step by step manual for living a meaningful life – each of us create our own. Coaching honours you as the expert in your life, and you are responsible for creating the policies and procedures. Are you curious about what is in your owners manual?
  • An opinion: It’s important you have an opinion here – you have one everywhere else – don’t give that up now!

If you don’t check all the boxes, that’s okay, I’ll still consider working with you.

who I work with

(aka why people work with me)

Maybe you can identify with one or more of these pain points:

  • Life is pretty good, I have a lot to be grateful for, AND it feels like something is missing
  • If Stuart does not get transferred or fired soon my marriage will be over because my partner is tired of me complaining about him
  • I cannot seem to see eye-to-eye with my boss, we have talked about ___ a million times, but they just don’t get it.
  • The spot on my back that ceases when I am tense cannot take anymore stress.
  • When did my kids get so old?
  • Oh, wait, my kid plays soccer? Likes music? Is in a band? Had a performance last night that I missed?
  • Man, I wish I had time for ____/Must be nice to have time for ___.
  • I am surrounded by idiots.
  • Everyone thinks I’m an idiot.
  • I am communicating like crazy – why does nobody understand what I am trying to get across?
  • My emails and their tone are amazing, but nobody else seems to think so.
  • Fantastic, it’s almost time to get up for work, and because I haven’t slept and spent the night thinking about work, I technically already brushed my teeth and am ready to seize the day!

Or maybe you identify better with one of these categories:

Managers in Engineering, Trades and Technology

Due to the nature and environment you work in, there are many aspects that are right or wrong, black or white. Our lives are a bit more colourful. Choices you make may be right AND wrong, black AND white AND grey AND blue, and, and, and. I help you gain clarity so you make decisions intentionally and on-purpose, not because it’s the “right” decision that you should make.

Key Influencers

Impact, impact, impact. You are in a position to have amazing impact, influence and contribution, and you’re not having the impact you want to have. What’s the disconnect?

Leaders in Transition

You’ve taken on a new role, congratulations! Now, who do you want to be and how do you want to be experienced? What’s going to be different this time around? A new position can be the opportunity for a new start. What will you do with this opportunity?

Healthcare and Municipal Administrators

Multidisciplinary is the world you live in – and that brings a diverse set of personalities and voices to lead. You’re ready to take your leadership to the next level – to expand as a leader in service of elevating yourself and those you lead and work with.

coaching programs

available offers

  • Leadership Coaching Consult

  • Discovery Session

    Choose this option if you would like to to book in for a one-time coaching session, or looking for Coaching On Demand.

    If you are looking for an ongoing Leadership Coaching Program, with regularly scheduled coaching calls, please consider my 3 month, 6 month or 9 month program options.

  • Explore – 3 months

    For leaders looking to explore and identify areas for development. You might not have clarity as to what is not “working”, but you have that knowing that something feels off or out of sync. This program will help you get your feet wet, and discover how coaching can help you in achieving greater balance, presence and impact.

    This 3 MONTH leadership coaching program includes one x 90 minute Discovery Session, and five x 50 minute coaching sessions. Sessions are typically scheduled in on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Elevate – 6 months

    You are in a position that provides you the opportunity to have significant impact and influence on those you lead and work with. You also find yourself distracted regularly. Your time and energy seems to be more in a reactive versus proactive state. It might even be consuming you, and it is definitely shifting your energy away from your priorities. Not to mention, there is an impact on your world outside of work.

    This program will help you focus and make choices that align with your priorities. You will make decisions with confidence, communicate with ease, and lead with intent.

    This 6 MONTH leadership coaching program includes one x 90 minute Discovery Session, and eleven x 50 minute coaching sessions. Sessions are typically scheduled in on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Evolve – 9 months

    You are looking to experience some big change. Whether a new role or project, a cultural shift, or new experiences, change is in the air and nothing is going to get in your way of having the impact you are meant to have. And you wouldn’t mind enjoying the ride.

    Included in this program is the opportunity to invite a supervisor or peer to provide input/observations every 3 months, and the option of participating in a 360 review and debrief.

    This 9 MONTH leadership coaching program includes one x 90 minute Discovery Session, and eighteen x 50 minute coaching sessions. Sessions are typically scheduled in on a bi-weekly basis.
